Back-To-School with Kleenex in hand *sniffle sniffle*

It is that time of the year again...

Back-To-School

(You thought I was going to say it was time for Pumpkin Spice Lattes didn't you, silly!)

My house has been overflowing with pencils, backpacks, and of course little butterflies buzzing around in tummies!

With every new school year comes excitement, adventures, and of course the dreaded germs. All of you Mommies know how it works:

Our kiddos go back to school. The weather slowly yet surely turns from summer to fall and BAM our kiddos have the sniffles. In my home it never fails. It's like clockwork.

This year my children's classrooms are ready to face the sniffles with Kleenex. Not only will they be able to keep their hands and noses cleaner with Kleenex Sneeze Shield, but they will be able to earn Box Tops for their school! Yes, you heard me right...BOX TOPS!

Kleenex Brand facial tissue is the only facial tissue that comes with the coveted Box Tops attached to select products.

Around here Box Tops are like gold! We clip clip clip all year long!

As a champion for healthy schools and kids Kleenex will also be donating 250,000 e Box Tops to three winning schools who participated in the TeachersLists.com nationwide sweepstakes! Last spring Kleenex brand partnered with TeachersLists.com and will award these oh so lucky schools with the amazing prize which is equivalent to $25,000.

Can you imaging what that could do for your local school?

So the next time you want to send your kiddos to school armed with the Kleenex Sneeze Shield or if you are looking for a great way to support your school make sure to check the packages for those Box Tops!

Disclosure: Information was provided to me in order to share with you. Kleenex donated tissue to my local school. No form of monetary compensation was received. All opinions are my own and are never influenced.

A Cleaner Way To Dry Your Hands & Why I Desperately Needed Kleenex Hand Towels

Now, before I get started with the good stuff I want to share two pieces of information with you...

1. It is SUMMER
2. I have two young kiddos

Ummmm...

Are you asking yourself how these things could possibly pertain to Kleenex Hand Towels? Let me explain.

Summer time is here! In my home that means bbq's, popsicles, and lots of smores in the fire pit. Which inevitably makes for a ton of hand washing with two kiddos running around all day with sticky hands and faces. See, I told you it would make sense.

Ok, time for the good stuff...

Kleenex Hand Towels offer a better way to dry your hands at home by giving you the option to dry off on a single use bathroom towel instead of using the same washable hand towel over and over again. The single use towel helps to reduce the spread of germs as compared to a re-usable towel. In my opinion it is a fantastic and hygienic solution especially during summer months when we are home more often or entertain friends and family. When I really thought about it I realized it makes sense for my family especially when you think about how leaving a damp towel on the counter or hanging on the wall could become full of germs throughout the day and I am totally guilty of leaving them there for a good week before washing. Yup, I am that Mom. I guess this would be a good time to also mention the time I washed my hands in the kids bathroom and dried off on the towel I keep on the countertop only to find that one of my kiddos had a toothpaste accident on the other side and decided it was best to just flip the towel around for the next un-suspecting hand washer to find...thanks guys! Toothpaste covered hands aren't really my thing.

What I loved about Kleenex Hand Towels is that they are free of inks, dyes, and fragrances so they are just right for the entire family including the smallest of hands. They are very absorbent and they come in a small box that fits right on your countertop or it would also fit right on your towel bar too.

Kleenex Hand Towels have even set up shop in Central Park! If you don't believe me check out their awesome video at the Central Park Hand Washing Station and see for yourself why more and more people are making the switch...

Kleenex Hand Towels can be found in the paper towel aisle at grocery stores and mass retailers nationwide at a suggested retail price of $2.99 per 60 count box. Visit Kleenex.com for more product information.

I received product samples and information from Kleenex Hand Towels to do this review. All opinions are 100% my own.

Catching Up! Fysiko Eyelash Growth Serum week 12

I can finally notice a significant difference in my eyelashes.
I know it can be hard to judge considering you look at yourself everyday in the mirror but the day has finally come :)

In this picture I put on one coat of mascara so you guys could actually see the results. It isn't as easily seen in a picture without mascara...
Tip: remember to apply mascara 15 minutes after applying Fysiko

I am so so so happy with the results thus far!
I LOVE me some Fysiko!
What do you think of my results so far?

More results from other Influensters can be found here

I received this item complimentary from Influenster

I got my 1st compliment! Fysiko Eyelash Growth Serum week 8

Okay, so I have gotten a bit behind with posting my updates. I am currently in the home stretch and I have 4 weeks to go. But- I have snapped pics (how could I forget) to keep you guys up to date.

The following pic is from my 8th week using Fyskio
I really didn't notice much change from my first 4 weeks but low and behold I got my first compliment! Woohoo :)

My eyelash's are still darker than they were which is awesome because the tips of my lash's have always been lighter than the rest and it has always bothered me. At the 8 week mark I still felt like I was longing to see more results but they were slow and steady which is absolutely better than nothing...

Can't wait to show you guys my 12 week result- it's good!
Check out other results here

I received the product complimentary from Influenster :)

Got Lashes? Fysiko eyelash Growth Serum Week 4

As  part of Influenster I am currently using an eyelash growth serum called Fysiko. I can honestly say that I have always been a little scared to try a serum like this because putting something so close to my eyeball actually freaks me out just a little bit.

BUT...

I am on week 4 of using Fysiko and I have had not a single problem with it. I kind of expected it to burn or dry out my skin even a tiny bit but nothing of the sort has occurred. Thank goodness.

Now on to the good stuff...

My eyelashes haven't gone wild and grown a mile long but they definitely feel stronger and they look darker. I still have 3 months of use so I am really looking forward to seeing more results! I currently use the serum twice a day. I apply it in the morning to a clean face 15 minutes before applying mascara or any eye makeup and I apply it every night after washing my face. It is super easy and applies just like a liquid eye liner minus the color. I keep it right next to my sink so I never forget to swipe it on :)

I can't wait to share my 8 week changes with you...make sure to come back!

I received this product complimentary from Influenster.

From Sleepless To Sleep Bliss #ZzzQuilNight

This post brought to you by ZzzQuil. All opinions are 100% mine.

 photo ZzzQuilIZEAPostcardpdf-1_zps70314197.jpg

I love to sleep. Seriously, who doesn't? Unfortunetly sleep has become something that I seem to day dream about more than I actually do. Okay okay, that is probably a bit of a stretch but is sure feels that way.  There are many mornings that turn into blurry days that I feel and probably look like a zombie!

My sleep habits aren't the best. For starters I stay up way to late. I am a total worrier/over thinker and night time is when my thoughts seem to get the best of me. I have been known to lie down at night and think about everything from a list of chores and errands I need to run or simply going over the same scenerio over and over again in my head.   My brain starts to feel like a computer with hundreds and hundreds of different tabs open at the exact same time. Can you relate? I simply can not relax enough at night to get the proper amount of sleep to get me through the next day. It seemed like a never ending vicious cycle.

I had previously seen ZzzQuil before but had never considered buying it because I have tried over the counter sleep aids before and I woke up the next morning feeling like I had one too many glasses of wine the night before. Yuck. When I received the ZzzQuil to sample I learned that the active ingredient diphenhydramine HCI helps you fall asleep faster and wake up feeling refreshed so I knew I had made the right choice when I decided to finally give it a try.

I am happy to share with you all that ZzzQuil kept true to their promise and not only did I fall asleep easily...I stayed asleep all night and woke up feeling very un-zombie-ish! I know zombies are making a come back but I would rather watch them on tv than look like one! Sorry ya'll!

If you have never seen ZzzQuil before here are a few things you might like to know:

*ZzzQuil is brought to you by Vicks NyQuil (ZzzQuil is for occasional sleeplessness no cold needed)

*ZzzQuil is the only over-the-counter sleep aid that comes in both liquid and LiquiCap form. (I sampled the liquid and it was surprisingly easy to swallow. It didn't have the typical syrup flavor you might expect.)

*Lastly, ZzzQuil is intended for adults and children 12 years of age and older. As always use only according to the package.

Come back and share your ZzzQuil sleep experience with me if you decide to give it a try.

My kiddos are so very lucky to attend an amazing school. The parents and staff really work together to make it the best possible experience for each and every student. Although we are full of ideas it is a sad reality that at times the budget just doesn't allow us to do everything we want to do for our sweet children. It is so very sad but we as parents can really do our part even from home...

Snacking gone wrong!

I enjoy snacking just as much as the next guy and I admit that when I see a little stand while shopping that I will usually grab a little something to nibble on as I walk around. Well, the last time we were spending too much money at one of my fave places- (not the one that rhymes with Shmarget it's the one that rhymes with Shmostco ;) Little Diva asked to have a sample of some cheese and a little cracker. I said sure why not...seems healthy enough, right? Ugh...major mom fail! For the record Little Diva has never ever had any sort of reaction or allergy from any type of food or drink. On with the story...she ate the sample and loved it. We got home about an hour later and I noticed a weird rash on the side of her face that looked like teeny tiny little welts. I instantly started going down the list of things she could have gotten into or put on her skin. Nothing. By now he rash had spread to her neck and arm and I was getting scared! I was racking my brain and finally she said "Mom all I did today was go to the store with you!" *Light Bulb* the cheese

Now now now..before anyone gives me the worst mom of the year award keep in mind we were told to keep her away from any soft cheese in the future as it was indeed a food allergy related rash.

So scary.
I hope you can learn from my major mistake.
Be careful when snacking.

Have you ever had an allergic reaction scare with your kiddo?

My FAVORITE gift this Christmas...

This year my Hubby finally got me something I have been wanting for a very long time!

Now I just need to gather some yummy recipes and get to work! If you have a favorite shoot me a comment... :)

I have never been a huge cook or baker (I'm more of a reservation gal) so I hope this bad boy (or maybe it's a girl..hmmm) doesn't turn into a pretty kitchen decoration!

What was your favorite gift this year...something you gave or received?

Why I love the weeks following Christmas...

Now, don't get me wrong- I adore Christmas. Well, all holidays really. But, I really truly love the weeks following Christmas. Sure the house is usually in shambles. The trash cans are overflowing, and I have bags under my eyes the size of Texas.

BUT

It is so worth it when I get to spend endless days with my babies putting together the new toys they spent months wishing for and playing silly board games late into the night because they are on winter break! I am not only a blessed Mommy...I am a happy Mommy.

Besides, without days like those Ya'll wouldn't get to see pictures like these...

Enjoying a night of Fibber.
I happily lost.
Jealous of my awesome glasses? Gonna have to get your own!
Your kids will thank you for it :)

Thanksgiving with the Plumber?

I sure hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving! Ours was quite memorable. We spent the majority of the day with the Plumber. Yup, I went and clogged up my stinkin' sink and it took most of the morning and early afternoon to fix. I was "that house" with the big ol' van sitting outside making a bunch of ruckus on Thanksgiving!

Aside from the commotion of all the sink issues we had a pretty darn good day. I cooked my first turkey (and it was actually delish) and we ate 'til our tummies could eat no more..then we ate pie ;)

Of course I didn't  take any pictures, well because that's what a good blogger/mommy would do and I clearly am slacking in that department these days...

How was your Thanksgiving? Anything crazy happen at your house...please tell me I wasn't the only one?

Pretend there is a great picture of my Turkey right here ------>

Isn't she a beauty ;)

I'm Backkk...

I have been gone for a while. I know I know. I'm a bad girl!
I have been beyond busy and overwhelmed and because of this my blog suffered. But, have no fear...I am back! I can't wait to share our "Thanksgiving Break" with you all (yes my kids are home for 9 whopping days)!

I am hoping to share some easy ways to keep the kiddos busy during the day as well as some yummy food over the next few days! P.S. this is the first year that I am attempting to make my very own turkey! I am actually really nervous about it, so if you all have ANY tips or things I should avoid leave me a comment!

My plan for today is to head on over to our local library so the kiddos can return a few books and get a couple more to keep up on their reading while away from school. I am also planning on getting my Thanksgiving menu together so I can shop shop shop tomorrow. I procrastinate like that ;)

Ohhh, if you have a yummy side dish idea or a Thanksgiving fave share it with me. Pretty please with sugar on top...all I have is a green bean casserole. I am really slacking in the creative department lately!

Happy to be back :)

Listerine Oral Care Challenge Wrap Up! #SWEETSMART

We Brushed. We Rinsed. We Flossed. We Conquered.

The time has sadly come. We have finally finished out Listerine Oral Care Challenge. As sad as I am to kiss the challenge goodbye, I am happy to announce that the kiddos and I had a blast while participating! We learned a few tips along the way that not only made us more enthusiastic about our oral care habits but gave us the knowledge to share with our friends and family about the importance of oral health.

Not only did both Little Dude and Little Diva participate daily but they really became what I named the "Teeth Team"! They started to time each other while the other would brush, floss, and rinse. This not only ensured they were doing each piece of the challenge for the suggested amount of time, but it made a game out of it! They would use a timer or sing songs to each other to pass the time away! You bet that made this Momma's role in teeth brushing much more pleasant.

I am am really excited to see that the challenge has made a lifestyle change in our home! I know that these products have worked to make our smiles much happier and I can't wait to see what the future holds for us in the way of dental check up's!

As you can see in the picture above it didn't take long for these new healthy habits to stick! So, if you are looking for a way to make daily teeth cleaning more fun for your kids, I totally suggest printing out or making a calendar for your home! You can use stickers or draw smiley faces after each successful day! I think seeing a daily reminder of how far we'd come really motivated us to keep up the good work!

I am so thankful for the chance to participate in this awesome challenge and I love that we are now a little more #SweetSmart

Disclosure: I received a box of Listerine and Reach products to participate in the challenge. I will also be compensated for my participation in this campaign. All opinions are 100% my own. Any claims should be verified on the sponsors site.

Does This Church Make Me Look Fat? {Review & Giveaway}

When it is cold outside one of my favorite things to do is to pick up a good book and curl up with a nice cup of hot coffee or tea! When I was offered the chance to review "Does This Church Make Me Look Fat?" I naturally jumped at the chance to use the book as a way to get in some much needed quiet time for myself! I also knew that this would be a book that would sit well with me.

To no surprise I enjoyed every page of the book. It was fun, heartfelt, and relatable. As someone who would rather spend my Sunday afternoons chatting with girlfriends than in church (To each his own. This is not a place to judge one another.) I really related to this book. I saw a lot of similar qualities in myself that Rhoda possessed. It was a book that I read easily while waiting in the car to pick the kiddos up from school. In my opinion the book was a bit jumpy so I always made sure that when I picked it up I had enough time to read an entire chapter before having to put it back down.

My favorite line from the entire book was: "Sometimes I even added tasks to a list retroactively, after I have already done them, just for the pleasure of crossing them out."

That is so me. Hehe.

Who is this book for you ask?

Does This Church Make Me Look Fat? is for people who have a problem with organized religion but can't quite dismiss the notion of God, and for those who secretly sing hymns in their cars but generally prefer a nice mimosa brunch to church. It is the story of what it means to find joy in love, strength in illness, and- incredibly, surprisingly- faith in a big-hearted-God.

Does this seem like a book that you would enjoy curling up with?
If it does it's your lucky day-
One of you are going to WIN your very own copy!

Pumpkin Seed Recipe

Making pumpkin seeds after carving is something my entire family looks forward to every year! It is so simple and requires very little effort (outside of washing the seeds off). Are you ready to see how we make ours?

Here we go...

Start with rinsed seeds. No pumpkin slime allowed!

*To a large pot I added 8 cups of water and 4 cups of pumpkin seeds. If you don't have 4 cups of seeds just use a 2:1 ratio and you'll be just fine.

*Bring the water and seeds to a rapid boil and as soon as it reaches a boil I turn the flame down to low and let them simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.

*Next you are going to strain the water out of the seeds and let the seeds sit for 10-15 minutes so they are partially dry.

*Once partially dry spread the seeds onto a well oiled baking sheet. (I used extra virgin olive oil and a dark Wilton sheet.)

*Bake for roughly 20 minutes or until the seeds start to turn golden in color.

When I take them out of the oven I like to add a few shakes of sea salt. This is totally optional but very yummy!

Serve & Enjoy

Health Care & My Family

What is the most important thing to you in the entire world? I can almost guarantee that we would all say it is our family! Mommies and Daddies are especially protective (in my case overly) of their baby bears. We would do just about anything to keep them safe, healthy, and thriving.

After participating in an online briefing session with WellPoint- who is one of the largest health benefits companies in the nation. The company has affiliated health plans in 14 states that fall under the names Anthem BlueCross and BlueShield, Anthem BlueCross in California, Empire BlueCross BlueShield in New York and BlueCross BlueShield of Georgia, I really got to thinking-

Would I ever let my children do or participate in something that could potentially harm them or make them sick and say "Well, if something happens we will take care of it then!"

No way...

I would do everything in my power to prevent injury or illness. Seems logical, right?
So, why would I ever expect anything less from an insurance company that is suppose to do the same for my most precious possessions, my family!

Look at these little faces...there is nothing I wouldn't do to keep them healthy & happy!

During the briefing session I learned a few things about WellPoint and it's affiliated health plans. Below you will find some of my favorite things. Let's just say...it was more personalized and supportive than I ever realized or knew possible.

*24/7 NurseLine: When your doctor has gone home but you need quick health answers, this service provides accurate info and 1-on-1 counseling with experienced registered nurses any time of the day or night through a toll-free number. This team of knowledgeable and caring nurses is there to help you assess symptoms and help you determine whether you should see the doctor, go to the ER or visit an urgent care center. They’re also prepared to answer questions about best practices when it comes to things like immunizations and various public-health issues.

*Future Moms: Not only does the company help you tackle the day-to-day challenges of being a mom, but it also helps you before you actually take on that role, through its Future Moms maternity program. This program gives very personalized support to expectant moms, helping them achieve healthier pregnancies and healthier deliveries – which can lead to having healthier babies. The program includes risk screening and educational support as well as post-delivery follow-up, which includes screening for depression for those of us who have faced something even more severe than the “Baby Blues.” It also helps provide you with the information and tips you need as a new parent to care for your child throughout the first year. Depending on whether you purchased your benefits yourself or receive them through your employer, you may need to enroll in this program. Simply call the number on your insurance card to check on eligibility and if you need to enroll.

*Personalizing Your Health: Knowing that moms have little time in their day to focus on just themselves, WellPoint and its affiliated health plans have provided a health and wellness portal that you can customize to your needs. The portal lets you – and other family members (yes, Dads too!) – develop a personalized health plan and includes email reminders and prompts for you to do the things you need to do – like scheduling check-ups and working out. It also contains a live-chat feature as well as access to a health coach for support with health resources, and even services as specific as
providing suggestions for quick and healthy recipes. Fitness devices are also available to help measure your steps, activity and even your sleep! These options are available not just though the workplace, but also as a part of personal plans such as consumer directed plans as well as in several states, including Connecticut, Colorado, Nevada, New Hampshire, Maine and Virginia. The company is also working to introduce a similar portal for all of its members in the future.

*Fitness to Fit Your Lifestyle: Being a mom often times means putting your family’s needs before your own, leaving very little time to work on your personal fitness goals. Understanding this, WellPoint and its affiliated health plans have partnered with FitOrbit to offer convenient and affordable ways for you to achieve your personal fitness goals. FitOrbit is available to anyone who wishes to sign up on the Fitorbit.com site. However, the company plans to incorporate FitOrbit into some of its products for employers, as well as offer it at a discounted rate to members in the future. FitOrbit provides:

-Unlimited access to a real personal trainer who, unlike trainers at the gym, is available to you around the clock.
-Customized, family friendly meal plan including recipes and even a grocery list!
-Detailed, personalized fitness plan that you can do anywhere, anytime. Whether it’s doing lunges at the playground while you push your child on the swing or doing squats while folding laundry, your personal trainer can help you find moments during the day when you can easily add an exercise!

*WellPoint would also like to offer you all a discount to FitOrbit that you can access right here: http://www.fitorbit.com/ib/MOMSAVES25*

I feel like I left the briefing session well informed and aware that they are making an effort to step up and think outside of the typical box. I really enjoyed all that I learned about WellPoint and their affiliates. I can also appreciate their efforts to change in a world where busy parents like ourselves need tools and support in many aspects of our lives that seem to go unnoticed or even unspoken of. I know for one I would have loved to have the Future Moms Maternity program available to me especially after having Little Dude. Feeling overwhelmed and under rested was a awful combination as a first time parent. It would have been nice to have that support without feeling ashamed or embarrassed to admit defeat to family and friends.

When it comes to health insurance and your family, what are your expectations? Does your provider meet or exceed them? The well being of our families is so important. I hope that this will at least get you thinking about what is out there and available to you and your family.

For myself, I know that when it comes to my health and the health and care of my family, I want to be more than just a medical record and I want my provider to be more than just a toll free number!

Disclosure: This post was written while participating in a campaign with WellPoint and TheMotherhood. Information was provided to me. All opinions however are 100% my own. I will be compensated for my efforts.
